D.A.R.E.- D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. Det. Aaron Perkins and Ptl. Thomas Smith are the D.A.R.E. Officers for Hackettstown PD.
Child Passenger Safety- The CPS Program is designed to educate parents on the proper installation of child passenger seats, as well as how children should be secured and protected in a motor vehicle while travelling. Ptl. Thomas Smith and Det. Aaron Perkins are the CPS-Certified Officers for Hackettstown PD. To schedule an appointment to have your child seat installed or inspected, please contact our office at 908-852-3302. Please bring your car seat, the car seat manual and vehicle owners' manual where the seat will be installed, the child who will be riding in the seat (whenever possible), and any parent/guardian who will be installing the seat in the future.
Child I.D. Program- The Hackettstown Police Detective Bureau coordinates the Child I.D. Program. This program is designed to provide children with identification cards in the event they become lost or separated from their parents or guardians.
Prescription Drug Take-Back Program - The Hackettstown Police Detective Bureau participates annually in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Program. The program allows citizens to dispose of any unwanted, unused, and expired prescription drugs with the peace of mind that the drugs will be disposed of safely and properly.
School Resource Program - This program designates officers who are responsible for visiting Hackettstown Schools on a daily basis. Their presence provides security and a direct point of contact with the police department to all students, faculty, and school staff.
Sgt. Darren Tynan is the designated S.R.O. (School Resource Officer) for H.P.D.
Community Day - The Hackettstown Police Department sponsors an annual "Community Day" event which hosts an array of emergency agencies, military, corporate, non-profit, health, and many other organizations who come together to educate the community about their functions and services they provide.
